FIRST THINGS FIRST… Check out our website at http://www.nefma.com
and get in the habit of checking it out - often. You should have gotten a letter back in
November from our Prez. John Hulsey giving you a login and password or code number. Go to
our website, use your login and password and then… JUMPIN JEHOSEPHAT… all the
latest fishing news, all our rules, dates, events, marriages and divorces (with pictures)
are right there before you... Seriously, fishing has been scanty of late (as this newsletter
will be soon), but what catches and standings there have been are all posted on the new
website --along with photos. Get the habit - go to our site often and stay in the know about
the happenings of our club. If you have misplaced your login & password, call Pres.
John and get another.. To refresh your thinking, I've included a copy of John's letter that
was sent to me and it lays it all out.. And if you're like me, still kinda hazy and dumb
about the web, at the January general meeting some web guru will be conducting a rundown
of the NEFMA website and how to use it best.
Speaking of our January 15th (the 3rd Wednesday) meeting, our own Capt.
Don Combs "Shark Bait" will be our program and tell us all about Swordfishing
– after all, he leads the pack in releases. The door prize for that evening will be
a $200 Hydraglow Swordfishing light. Bring a guest!
A reminder once again - if your dues aren't paid by the end of the year,
you'll have to pay an initiation fee to rejoin the North East Florida Marlin Association.
(Webmaster Correction: The initiation fee ONLY applies to NEW General Members
or Associate, not existing or previous General/Associate Members that are renewing)
And Captains, encourage your crew to join as an associate.
Tis the time to be jolly... as the Christmas season is upon us... decorate
your boat, and don't miss the 10th annual open house celebration at Camachee Cove, Saturday,
Dec. 10 from 6 to 9 pm. The club will be open with refreshments.
And then there's our own NEFMA Christmas Party. This Gala Gala event is
all set for Wednesday December 18th, at 7 pm. As usual we'll have some surprises, pickin
and singing of Christmas Carols, plenty of good eats from the Country Caterers, and desserts
by our own ladies and most important…….
the annual fun filled ritual of swapping gifts (not over S25 please). Gift swapping rules
are printed elsewhere in this letter.
Jim Blalock says a lot of folks are not putting their fish cards in the
fish card box in front of the clubhouse. In fact, some have even taken them to the Camachee
Office. Please, don't drop them in the mail slot, but put them in the card box near the
fish cleaning station.
Let me urge you again to visit (often) our website at http://www.nefma.com.
This newsletter takes a lot of time to produce and send out, plus it costs the club about
2 grand a year… the website is free, quicker and much more in depth and very illustrative.
Use it often! PS, if you don't yet have a computer, go over to grandmas or the library or
your neighbor and borrow their computer for a few minutes.
See you on the web, the high seas, and at the Christmas party.
Sincerely your editor,
Marshall Rowland
